CANADIAN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION Sinclair Centre 420 - 757 West Hastings Street Vancouver, BC V6A 1A1 This is a federal government agency responsible for administering the Canadian Human Rights Act, which applies to federal government departments and agencies, crown corporations, and business and industry under federal jurisdiction, such as banks, airlines, telecommunications, and interprovincial transportation. The Act applies to employment practices, policies and advertisements, residential and commercial accommodation and services available to the public. It protects against discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth and childcare), family or marital status, the fact that a person was convicted for an offence for which a pardon has been issued, disability (which includes mental and physical disabilities as well as those that are a result of existing or previous drug or alcohol dependence), and sexual orientation.
