The Special Measures Initiatives Program provides practical means for federal institutions to increase the representation and distribution of designated group members (Visible Minorities, Aboriginal Peoples, Persons with Disabilities and Women) in the federal Public Service. The SMI Program provides recruitment programs; training and development programs; financial support to federal institutions to support the initiation of changes in corporate culture, attitudes and behaviour in the Public Service. In addition, the Technical Aids Loan Bank offers a wide range of work-related assistive devices for short-term loan to eligible employees.
