POLARIS Employment Services provides job seeking and job keeping assistance to job candidates with a developmental disability who live in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, White Rock and the North Shore. To be eligible, persons must want to meet the demands of competitive employment (minimum wage or more). Career counseling, job match, time - limited job coaching, marketing, on-the-job support, follow-along and retraining are some of the specific services available. There are no fees for either the job candidate, family or the employer as the cost of the services is covered by funding from Service Canada and Community Living BC Authority.

 

Phone call with Executive Director to discuss Referral Criteria. First Interview within 2-3 weeks of that phone call. Map and directions mailed to the individual. Identification of any support person that may be of assistance with directions or information gathering. Waiting time of 2-3 months from initial call. Will vary with service needs, staff availability and funding source.
