North Shore Employment Services provides job seeking and job keeping assistance to job candidates with any permanent disability who reside on the North Shore or surrounding areas. The program is managed by the board of the North Shore Association for the Mentally Handicapped. Candidates registered for service include those persons seeking a competitive job (minimum wage or more), and those individuals for whom work is a new concept. The services include assistance with vocational planning, career exploration, job search, on-the-job support, follow-along, and retraining. There are no costs for the services to job candidates or employers as the funding is from Human Resources Development Canada, Ministry for Children and Families, and Ministry of Education, Skills and Training.
