Therapeutic Volunteer Program
910 View St.
Victoria, BC V8W 3C8

The Therapeutic Volunteer Program is designed for individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness who are unable to enter an employment or training program at the present time but who would benefit from experience in a designated volunteer position which is flexible enough to meet their needs. The program is intended to help clients achieve a greater degree of independence, community integration and confidence, through the opportunity to participate in and develop vocational and life skills in a volunteer placement. In order to be eligible for the program, individuals must be over 19 years of age, registered at a provincial Mental Health Centre, must not be eligible for or in receipt of the Ministry for Children and Families' Community Volunteer Program. The client must volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per month. The Therapeutic Volunteer Program provides the volunteer with a monthly allowance of $100 towards the cost of placement associated expenses and as such, is not considered to be a salary. Check your telephone directory blue pages under Government of BC, Health, Ministry of, and contact your local Mental Health Centre.
