Items which are specifically designed for persons with permanent disabilities, and certain specialized devices designed and purchased for use in the transportation of persons with disabilities are exempt from social services tax (sales tax). In addition, persons with certain disabilities who own or lease a motor vehicle may obtain a rebate of up to $400 per year for tax paid on fuel.

Property Tax Deferment Tax Deferment Office Ministry of Finance and Corporate Relations Box 2900 1061 Fort Street Victoria, BC V8W 3G4 B.C.'s Property Tax Deferment Program allows you to defer payment of annual property taxes on your home if you are:
- 60 years or older; or
- a surviving spouse; or
- a disabled person as defined in the Guaranteed Available Income for Need (GAIN) Act;
- and if you are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who has lived in British Columbia for at least one year immediately prior to applying for tax deferment benefits.
