CRISIS CENTRES

Some communities in BC have crisis/distress lines. Some of these operate 24 hours while others do not. The aim is to provide a place for a person to call when they are experiencing a stressful situation. They don't give advise or tell a person what to do. They try and help the person make their own decision. The service is non-judgmental, confidential and free of charge. In other words crisis/distress lines provide a place for a person to call when they need someone to talk to but there is no one. They will have access to referrals which can be passed on to the callers if more specific help is needed or requested. See Crisis Centres under Listings for addresses and numbers around the province.
