The Office for Disability Issues (ODI) is one of five components of an integrated provincial strategy for coordinating disability issues in BC (also known as the Strategy). The strategy has the mandate to heighten awareness of disability issues; coordinate policy and program initiatives across government that affect persons with disabilities.

The staff at the ODI ensure open communications between government, people with disabilities and related agencies; and to facilitate ongoing input to public policy and program priorities.

Coordination efforts are focused on three key areas: education, training and employment; community living supports; and transportation. The Strategy components do not offer direct services or advocate on behalf of individuals.
