This group promotes the rights and well being of people with hearing impairments. WIDHH provides ASL (American Sign Language) and Signed English Interpreters on either a fee for service basis or paid for through a government agency. It also provides vocational assistance, career and job counselling, individual counselling as well as operating services to improve communication, job skills, and educational opportunities.

The audiology department provides hearing tests and audio devices such as hearing aids. They also sell and repair a variety of devices such as TTY’s, close caption, warning and alert systems and special alarm clocks. For the hard of hearing, assistive listening devices such as loops, infrared and FM systems are provided.

The Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is designated by Rogers Cable systems to authorize free decoders for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. There is a one time charge of $25.00 and you may be required to take a hearing test. This service is for people who live within the Rogers Cable area only.
