The MPA was established in 1971 to meet the needs of mental and ex-mental patients living in the community. It sponsors several Housing Programs, including group homes, satellite apartments, hotel apartments, cottage program on the grounds of Riverview Hospital, two licensed facilities for hard-to-house women and psychogeriatric persons, the Community Resource Centre and the Courtworker Project.
