As the complications of Hemochromatosis -- a potentially fatal disease caused by an iron overload in the body and also is the most common genetic disorder afflicting Canadians -- are preventable through early diagnosis and treatment, the activities of the Society are directed towards this end. The Society maintains a central registry of all known individuals with Hemochromatosis and their families. Also Provides information, speakers, Medical Advisory Board, patient advocacy, and a newsletter which is distributed to medical professionals and the public world-wide. Membership varies from $10 to $35 per year. Registered non-profit society.
